Transparency
This section outlines my educational, career, and life-changing experiences. I've shared these details to be fully transparent because I believe that openness
builds trust and provides essential context for understanding my journey and growth.
At 10, I began exploring computers, by 14 I was building and repairing them while applying self-taught skills in graphic design, programming, and website
development for family friends and their businesses. At 15, I developed a small social networking platform that became popular among my school friends as an
alternative to MSN, until we eventually transitioned to Facebook. By 17, I had created over 60 websites for local companies, boosting their online presence and
search engine rankings, all whilst studying and working night shifts in clubs. I also developed my own invoicing system for clients to use. In 2010, I registered my
company to meet growing client demand.
In 2011, I moved to Cambridge to pursue a degree in Computer Science, supported by a £12k scholarship from Microsoft to cover hardware, software, and
licensing needs. During my studies, I achieved my "Cisco Certified Network Associate" certification, and my final year dissertation, titled "Web Server Security and Secure Coding Practices," received commendation and was shared with Microsoft by my tutor. In my third year, the founder of Compare the Meerkat visited our univercity, reviewed the work
of top students, and provided positive feedback on my projects.
Whilst univercity provided me with a valuable opportunity to deepen my knowledge across various topics and modules, it also presented me with new clients and
enabled me to expand my business through freelance work for fellow students. As a result of this growth, I established a payroll and hired five new employees by
2012. Due to my significant career commitments during my studies, I extended my degree over an additional year in order
to effectively manage both responsibilities.
During this time, I took a three-month contract with 365 Technical Plant Services and moved to Cheshire, managing their IT and network infrastructure. This evolved
into a role providing remote technical support and leading the design of mobile apps, websites, and CRMs. Over three years, I advanced from Project Manager
to Senior IT Executive, contributing to the development of a product later sold to Hive (smart heating).
I also temporarily shifted my focus from my own business to work on projects with Huawei and the design, development and installation of
electric car charging points with British Gas.
I was able to develop a strong rapport with one of my clients, leading to a collaborative effort in setting up new business ventures. One notable achievement
was our establishment of a successful Car Loan and Leasing company. I also took care of their FCA license and registration, ensuring compliance with
IEEE and ISO standards across their business operations.
Over the past 8 years, I took on a similar role at Smart Fish Group LTD before taking on a contract for data management with a local accountant. During this
time my involvement in various charities as a volunteer has been lead by my determination to make positive changes in the community, to lend a hand to those
in need, to build new relationships and networking opportunities, and to enhance my personal growth in terms of of both my physical and mental well-being.
In August 2019, shortly after getting married and with three children and a fourth on the way, I faced a life-altering diagnosis following a three-month
battle with sepsis and meningitis. This resulted in a neurological disorder that left me paralyzed from the waist down and wheelchair bound ever since. Despite
these challenges, we welcomed our youngest child, relocated multiple times, and adapted our home to suit my needs. During this period, I focused on
volunteering, took on short-term contracts, and stayed engaged in the IT field.
I am committed to being open and transparent about my circumstances, and am confident it will not hinder my ability to perform and excel as your all-around creative and technical partner. My determination and adaptability have not negated my ability, but further strengthened my capacity to contribute to demanding roles.
